Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Dışişleri Bakanlığı 06.02.2015

QA-2, 06 February 2015

We welcome that the request for release on parole of the terrorist Hampig Sasunyan, who on 28 January 1982 assassinated in a treacherous attack Kemal Arıkan, Consul General of the Republic of Turkey in Los Angeles, has been rejected at the parole hearing held on 5 February 2015.

We consider this rejection decision as appropriate in terms of universal principles of justice as well as necessary for an effective and uncompromising stance against terrorism.

On this occasion, we pay tribute once again to our fallen diplomat Kemal Arıkan as well as all our martyrs who fell victim to terrorism. May they rest in peace.
