Press Release Regarding the Second Meeting of the Strategic Dialogue Mechanism Between the Republic of Turkey and the Federal Republic of Germany

The Second Meeting of the Strategic Dialogue Mechanism (SDM), established in accordance with the Joint Declaration signed in Berlin on May 2013 in order to create an institutional perspective and a strategic dimension in the relations between Turkey and the Federal Republic of Germany, will be held in Istanbul on 19-20 June, 2014, under the co-chairmanship of H.E. Mr. Ahmet Davutoğlu, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, and H.E. Mr. Frank-Walter Steinmeier, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany.

In this context, German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier will pay a visit to Turkey upon the invitation of Minister Davutoğlu.

The Strategic Dialogue Mechanism will enable representatives and experts from the Foreign Ministries and other relevant institutions to meet under the leadership of both Foreign Ministers and exchange views on bilateral relations as well as on international and regional issues and discuss cooperation opportunities.

Working Groups on "Bilateral Relations", "European Partnership", "Security Policies" "Counter Terrorism" and "Regional and International Developments" will convene in this framework.

During their meetings, Minister Davutoğlu and his German counterpart will assess bilateral relations as well as current regional and international issues on the common agenda.
