Press Release Regarding the Trilateral Meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan

The first Trilateral Meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan will be held in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan on 26 May 2014.

The meeting is expected to address the opportunities for developing cooperation at bilateral and regional levels in matters of common interest to all three countries, especially in the fields of energy and transportation and to enable an exchange of views on international and regional developments.

Within the framework of the Trilateral Meeting, Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs H.E. Mr. Ahmet Davutoğlu will also hold bilateral talks with H.E. Mr. Elmar Memmedyarov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan and H.E. Mr. Rashid Meredov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The aim is to extend to Turkey, Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan the foreign ministers’ trilateral meetings mechanism which has been established in the region with the participation of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Iran. In this context, the meeting that will be held in Baku is expected to contribute to the development of joint cooperation in all areas among the three countries on the basis of mutual benefit and to the consolidation of regional stability and security.
